Water Festival 2022 Event Overview

The always-popular Water Festival returns to Pokémon GO with a Splash! Dive into this special event and meet some new Pokémon, challenge a new Legendary Raid boss, help complete a Global Challenge, and more!
Event Features
Pokémon debuts
The following Pokémon (or forms) will be available in Pokémon GO for the first time:
Tapu Fini
Dewpider and its Evolution, Araquanid
Lapras wearing a scarf✨
Shiny Binacle and its Evolution, Barbaracle✨
Note: Evolving Dewpider into Araquanid will require 50 Dewpider candy
Event Bonuses
The following bonuses will be available for the duration of the event:
2-hour Rainy Lure Modules
2× Candy from hatching Eggs
Increased Candy XL from hatching Eggs
A new avatar item, the Water Festival Scarf, will also be available in the in-game shop during and after the event.
Global Challenge
A Global Challenge will accompany the Water Festival event, and will be available from 1:00 p.m. PDT (GMT –7) on Wednesday, May 11, 2022, to 1:00 a.m. PDT (GMT –7) on Saturday, May 21, 2022. Trainers will work together to catch Water-type Pokémon to unlock a special bonus.
Global Challenge: Catch 600,000,000 Water-type Pokémon
Global Challenge reward: 2× Candy for catching Pokémon
Timed Research
Trainers will be able to complete Time Research focused on catching Pokémon throughout the event to earn the following:
50 Gyarados Mega Energy
1000 XP
1000 Stardust
An encounter with Lapras wearing a scarf
An encounter with Dewpider
Special Research: Poni Island
Trainers will be able to collect the Poni Island Special Research story as a part of the Season of Alola starting at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 10, 2022 (local time). Remember to complete all the Alola Special Research stories by June 1 to unlock a bonus Special Research line!
