As the Season of Discovery comes to an end, it's time to prepare for a new Season in Pokémon GO: The Season of Mischief! After distorting time and space in the Ultra Unlock by unleashing Legendary Pokémon at Pokémon GO Fest 2021, Hoopa will be ushering in the Season of Mischief.
Special research
Hoopa, the Mischief Pokémon, will not only bring in the changes of a new Season, but you will also be able to encounter Hoopa in a new Special Research available soon!
Misunderstood Mischief
Available from Wednesday, September 1, 2021, at 10:00 a.m (local time)
This Special Research story will last all Season, and will unlock in parts at the beginning of certain events. A special event will be unlocked at the end of the Season for trainers who complete the Special Research. Will this have to do with Hoopa too?

Hoopa's Arrival
Sunday, September 5, 2021, from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (local time)
Strange things will be happening in Pokémon GO... could this be Hoopa's work? During event hours on September 5th, certain Ghost-, Dark-, and Psychic-type Pokémon will be attracted to Incense:
Psychic-type - Exeggcute, Jynx, Natu, Girafarig, Spoink, Beldum, Munna
Ghost- and Dark-type - Alolan Rattata, Poochyena, Sableye, Carvanha, Duskull, Drifloon, Purrloin
Types attracted by Incense will rotate hourly on the following schedule (in local time):
11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. - Psychic
12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. - Ghost and Dark
1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. - Psychic
2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. - Ghost and Dark
3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. - Psychic
4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. - Ghost and Dark
Other bonuses during event hours will include:
A Collection Challenge for the featured Pokémon listed above, with additional Hoopa candy and an avatar pose (Poké Ball Lift) as rewards
Double transfer candy
A free bundle with an Incense in the in-game shop
Exclusive field research tasks awarding Rare Candies and various types of Poké Balls
Seasonal Changes
This upcoming Season will also bring changes to spawns, egg hatches, and more.
Wild Spawns
Biome-specific spawns - these Pokémon (and more!) will be spawning in certain real-world habitats:
City - Shuppet, Trubbish, Gothita
Forest - Teddiursa, Shelmet, Karrablast
Mountain - Geodude, Rhyhorn, Slugma
Water - Krabby, Horsea, Mantine
Hemisphere-specific spawns - these Pokémon (and more!) will be spawning in each real-world region:
Northern - Jigglypuff, Slowpoke, Chikorita, Cyndaquil, Totodile, Bidoof, Autumn Form Deerling
Southern - Clefairy, Roselia, Snivy, Tepig, Oshawott, Tympole, Spring Form Deerling

The following Pokémon (and more!) will be hatching from each type of egg:
2 km - Nidoran ♀, Nidoran ♂, Barboach, Drifloon
5 km - Seel, Pineco, Sableye, Chingling
10 km - Audino and Mienfoo
5 km Adventure Sync - Shieldon, Cranidos, female Frillish
10 km Adventure Sync - Riolu, Deino, Noibat
mega evolution CP bonuses
The following Pokémon will receive a CP boost when Mega Evolved each month this season:

Ditto disguises
The Season of Mischief brings a new list of Pokémon that Ditto may be hiding as:
Gastly
Drowzee
Remoraid
Teddiursa
Gulpin
Numel
Stunky
Dwebble
Foongus
If you encounter one of these Pokémon, there is a chance it will turn into a Ditto and the Ditto can be shiny. ✨
BUT:
If you encounter one of these Pokémon AND that specific one is already shiny, it will NOT turn into a Ditto.
