Pokémon Legends: Arceus - Where to find all three Sinnoh starters?
Recently put your hands on the long awaited Pokémon Legends: Arceus? Then you have most certainly noticed how different the game is from previous main series Pokémon games. Worry not, most things you used to do in previous games is still doable, although somewhat differently.
In this article, we’ll dive into the mechanics allowing you to collect all three Sinnoh starters (Chimchar, Turtwig, and Piplup) on your Hisuian adventure, and even doing so fairly early on in the game for Chimchar.
WARNING! THIS POST CONTAINS SPOILERS
Chimchar: The Mysterious Will O’ the Wisp
While there are others way to obtain a Chimchar, this is by far the earliest and easiest option. The Mysterious Will O’ the Wisp is a quest that you will be able to follow early on in the game.
Paira, found in Jubilife Village (unlocked at the very beginning of the game), has a Request for you, investigate the strange appearance of will-o-wisps in the trees between Windswept Run and Nature’s Pantry. The Request will ultimately you take you on top of a tree where a Chimchar is hanging. Battle it without deafeating it to ensure you can capture it.
If, such as myself, you are more adventurous, you can also opt to hunt for a Chimchar in the wild. Chimchar will spawn fairly sparingly on Ramanas Island (Southwest on the map below), which can be found in the Obsidian Fieldlands (map below, unlocked after joining the Survey Corps). Be warned though, a giant Alpha Infernape roams these lands to protect Chimchar, so explore with caution.

Turtwig: Droning Meadow
On your adventure in PLA, you’ll eventually make it to the Crimson Mirelands (map below, unlocked after defeating the Boss of Obsidian Fieldlands and reaching Rank 2). After passing the Cottonsedge Prairie (East on the map below), you should finally reach Droning Meadow (Southeast on the map below). In that area, you should sparingly encounter Turtwig. Be warned though, just like for Chimchar, there will be a giant Alpha Torterra roaming these lands to protect Turtwig. Once again, always explore with caution.

Piplup: Islepy Shore
Finally, Piplup, arguably the most difficult to obtain. On the Islepy Shore (see map below, unlocked after defeating the Boss of Crimson Mirelands and reaching Rank 3), located in the Cobalt Coastlands (Northwest on the map below), Piplup will spawn sparingly, as all starters do. Once more, be warned! As for previous starters, a giant Alpha Empoleon roams these lands to protect Piplup. Oh, and always explore with caution when playing PLA.
