Eevee: The Evolution Pokémon

Eevee, the Evolution Pokémon, can evolve into eight different evolutions: Vaporeon, Jolteon, Flareon, Espeon, Umbreon, Leafeon, Glaceon, and Sylveon. But how do you get Eevee to evolve into each of those 8 evolutions?

  1. The nickname trick: you nickname your Eevee with a specific nickname and then you can evolve Eevee using 25 Eevee Candy into your desired evolution. Be careful on which Eevee you use this, as you can use each name trick only once!

  2. Meeting the evolution requirements for evolving Eevee into a specific evolution.

If you're trying to get a specific Eeveelution but are not sure if you've met all requirements, you can check Eevee's Evolve-button. The shadowed silhouette will show what Eeveelution you will end up getting, rather than a question mark.

If you see a question mark, you may have done something incorrectly! However this method of "checking the silhoutte" does not work for Vaporeon, Jolteon, and Flareon.

Eeveelution Guide:

How to get Vaporeon?

How to get Jolteon?

How to get Flareon?

How to get Espeon?

How to get Umbreon?

How to get Leafeon?

How to get Glaceon?

How to get Sylveon?

How to get Vaporeon?

Nickname (only once!): Change your Eevee’s nickname into Rainer and you will see the shadow on the Evolve-button change into the shadow of a Vaporeon. You can now evolve your Eevee into a Vaporeon using 25 Eevee Candy.

Evolution requirements: There are no evolution requirements for Vaporeon. If you simply evolve an Eevee, it will randomly evolve into either Vaporeon, Jolteon, or Flareon. Evolving Eevee costs 25 Eevee candy. You can not influence which of these three evolutions Eevee evolves into.

How to get Jolteon?

Nickname (only once!): Change your Eevee’s nickname into Sparky and you will see the shadow on the Evolve-button change into the shadow of a Jolteon. You can now evolve your Eevee into a Jolteon using 25 Eevee Candy.

Evolution requirements: There are no evolution requirements for Jolteon. If you simply evolve an Eevee, it will randomly evolve into either Vaporeon, Jolteon, or Flareon. Evolving Eevee costs 25 Eevee candy. You can not influence which of these three evolutions Eevee evolves into.

How to get Flareon?

Nickname (only once!): Change your Eevee’s nickname into Pyro and you will see the shadow on the Evolve-button change into the shadow of a Flareon. You can now evolve your Eevee into a Flareon using 25 Eevee Candy.

Evolution requirements: There are no evolution requirements for Flareon. If you simply evolve an Eevee, it will randomly evolve into either Vaporeon, Jolteon, or Flareon. Evolving Eevee costs 25 Eevee candy. You can not influence which of these three evolutions Eevee evolves into.

How to get Espeon?

Nickname (only once!): Change your Eevee’s nickname into Sakura and you will see the shadow on the Evolve-button change into the shadow of an Espeon. You can now evolve your Eevee into an Espeon using 25 Eevee Candy.

Evolution requirements: To guarantee your Eevee evolves into an Espeon, you can also use the Pokémon Buddy system and follow the next steps:

  1. Choose the Eevee you want to evolve into an Espeon and set that Eevee as your Buddy.

  2. During the daytime in the game, you can now evolve that Eevee into an Espeon using 25 Eevee Candy.

Make sure the Eevee is your Buddy while evolving and the shadow on the Evolve-button shows Espeon’s silhoutte. If it still shows a question mark or shows another shadow, Eevee will not evolve into Espeon.

How to get Umbreon?

Nickname (only once!): Change your Eevee’s nickname into Tamao and you will see the shadow on the Evolve-button change into the shadow of an Umbreon. You can now evolve your Eevee into an Umbreon using 25 Eevee Candy.

Evolution requirements: To guarantee your Eevee evolves into an Umbreon, you can also use the Pokémon Buddy system and follow the next steps:

  1. Choose the Eevee you want to evolve into an Umbreon and set that Eevee as your Buddy.

  2. During the nighttime in the game, you can now evolve your Eevee into an Umbreon using 25 Eevee Candy.

Make sure the Eevee is your Buddy while evolving and the shadow on the Evolve-button shows Umbreon’s silhoutte. If it still shows a question mark or shows another shadow, Eevee will not evolve into Umbreon.

How to get Leafeon?

Nickname (only once!): Change your Eevee’s nickname into Linnea and you will see the shadow on the Evolve-button change into the shadow of a Leafeon. You can now evolve your Eevee into a Leafeon using 25 Eevee Candy.

Evolution requirements: To guarantee your Eevee evolves into a Leafeon, you can also evolve your Eevee using 25 Eevee Candy when being next to a PokéStop with a Mossy Lure active. To make sure your Eevee evolves into a Leafeon, check if the shadow on the Evolve-button shows a Leafeon silhoutte. If it shows a question mark or another shadow, Eevee will not evolve into Leafeon.

How to get Glaceon?

Nickname (only once!): Change your Eevee’s nickname into Rea and you will see the shadow on the Evolve-button change into the shadow of a Glaceon. You can now evolve your Eevee into a Glaceon using 25 Eevee Candy.

Evolution requirements: To guarantee your Eevee evolves into a Glaceon, you can also evolve your Eevee using 25 Eevee Candy when being next to a PokéStop with a Glacial Lure active. To make sure your Eevee evolves into a Glaceon, check if the shadow on the Evolve-button shows a Glaceon silhoutte. If it shows a question mark or another shadow, Eevee will not evolve into Glaceon.

How to get Sylveon?

Nickname (only once!): Change your Eevee’s nickname into Kira and you will see the shadow on the Evolve-button change into the shadow of a Sylveon. You can now evolve your Eevee into a Sylveon using 25 Eevee Candy.

Evolution requirements: To guarantee your Eevee evolves into a Sylveon, you can also use the Pokémon Buddy system. Choose the Eevee you want to evolve into Sylveon and set it as your Buddy. Earn 7 hearts during this Community Day (usually 70) with that Eevee as your Buddy, to be able to evolve the Eevee into Sylveon. Once 7 hearts have been earned, the shadow on the Evolve-button will change into a Sylveon silhoutte and you can then evolve Eevee into Sylveon using 25 Eevee Candy. If the Evolve-button shows a question mark or another shadow, Eevee will not evolve into Sylveon.
